Accident Reporting Procedure

2. Notify Emergency Services (If Injuries Occur)

If anyone is injured drivers, passengers, or pedestrians it is mandatory to contact New Zealand emergency services by dialling 111. This ensures that medical help is dispatched promptly and a police report is filed, which is essential for insurance purposes in cases involving personal injury.

3. Write a Statement or Request a Police Report

When possible, prepare a written statement summarizing the facts of the accident, signed by all parties involved. If reaching an agreement on the details is not possible or if others involved are uncooperative, obtain a police report as an impartial record of the event.
